Our selection of works by Guy Bardone (1927-2015)

Works by Guy Bardone (1927-2015) a french painter, engraver, and illustrator, who was born in 1927 in Saint-Claude (Jura) and who died in 2015. He studied at the école des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and at the école supérieure des arts décoratifs de Paris where he was a student of Maurice Brianchon, Jules Cavaillès and François Desnoyers. In 1950, he met the critic George Besson who encouraged him and advised him. In 1952, he received the prize Félix Fénéon, and started exhibiting in several salons and group exhibitions. He was selected in 1953 to the importante exhibition "Célébrités et révélations de la peinture contemporaine" at the Musée Galliera à Paris. He took part in 1954 to the exhibition "École de Paris" at the Charpentier gallery. In 1957, he received the prize of the Fondation Greenshields where Vlaminck, Dunoyer de Segonzac and Villon were members of the jury. His works are regularly exhibited in France and abroad, notably in the USA. In 1986 an important retrospective was organized at the Château de Chenonceau. Bardone made several tapestries, and numerous lithographs. He illustrated books, including ones by Marcel Aymé, Colette, Joseph Kessel, Henry de Montherlant, Alain-Fournier... His works can be seen at the Musée des Beaux Arts de Nantes (France), Centre Pompidou - Musée national d'art moderne (France), Modern Museum in Sweden - Moderna Museet (Sweden), l'Artothèque, Besançon (France).
