"Of my childhood, I keep an intact memory of my passages in Arles and of my first art lessons where we studied him: Vincent Van Gogh, today, on March 30th, 2018, would have been 165 years old.
Arles is the beginning of the end of his life, his argument with Gauguin, the pistol shot, then the "ear slicing". On each street, the dreamer child that I was felt his energy, that of the genius but
also the man prone to fits of madness.
This is what brings me to present these two "portraits with cut ears" to you. These are the thoughts that accompanied me when I was working on these two paintings, never forgetting this child who, on
each visit to this city, breathed the same air as Vincent Van Gogh."
