Salvador DALI - Don Quixote, 1965 - Signed drawing
Pen drawing on postcard, 10.4 x 14.8 cm, signed twice, dated and dedicated.
On the front of the card an illustration of the famous Don Quixote de la Mancha, Dali viscerally attached to his Catalan land gave a partisan dimension to his drawing by adding four lower limbs to the body of his character made up of four names of countries, regions, villages dear to his heart: "Espana, Catalunia, Cadaques, Port Lligat". By these names and Don Quixote, Dali expresses his visceral belonging to Spain and more particularly to Catalonia with the village of Cadaques where he had his summer residence built in 1930 in Port Lligat, a place of life and work, of a small fisherman's house that he enlarged and transformed into a house in his image. He lived there with Gala until his death in 1982, when he moved to Pubol Castle.
On the back of the card a photo of Dali decked out in a red cap, watching behind a rock, where his name has been drawn in white paint on the rock, signed and dated at the top.

Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) is a surrealist painter, draughtsman, sculptuor, lithograph, writter, photographer from catalan origins. Born Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, known as Salvador Dalí, Titled "Marqués de Dalí de Púbol" by the king of Spain in 1982.
He is considered as one of the major figures of surrealism and most famous painters of the 20th century.
