Etching :
Process realized on a metal plate using a chemical (acid) process. The artist using etching is called an aquafortist.
Jules Pascin :
Julius Mordecai Pincas of his name of birth, is a painter from The "Ecole de Paris". He was born in 1885 in Vidin (Bulgaria). He studied in Budapest and Vienna Art Schools and his collaboration with the satirical german journal Simplicissimus gave him some recognition. He took the name "Pascin" when he came to Paris in 1905, where he met aristists from Montmartre and Montparnasse (Foujita, Kisling, Soutine, Van Dongen, Derain, Diego Rivera, Matisse..). He became member of The Ecole de Paris and participated to The Salon d'automne from 1908 to 1912. His Bulgarian origins constrained him to quit France during World War I. He settled in United States in october 1914, he was remarked during the International Modern Art Exhibition in New York (1912) and was naturalized american citizen in 1920. The artist made many trips which will mark his works (Tunisia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, UK, Cuba...). He commited suicide in june 2nd, 1930 in Paris.
