Etching (heliogravure) enhanced with watercolours on Vellum paper measuring 42.5 x 31 cm.
The etching was published by Ateliers Goupil in 1897.
Limited edition of 125 copies, delivered with a certificate of authenticity by the gallery and a photocopy of the publisher's proof of edition.

Very good condition, small stains in the margins and slight tear in the left margin edge.

Information:
This etching is part of the "Album Fenaille" or "Album Goupil", published in 1897, a work dedicated to the drawings of Auguste Rodin. It contains a large part of the drawings of Dante's Inferno,
which are generally summarized under the name "Black Drawings".
A copy of this valuable album is in the archives of the Rodin Museum.

Auguste Rodin : Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), is one of the greatest french sculptors of the second half of the 19th century, considered as one of the fathers of moderne sculpture. He is credited with revolutionizing sculpture by a previously unknown freedom of form. His most famous works are "The thinker", the Monument to the writer Balzac, The "Bourgeois de Calais" (Burghers of Calais). A museum is dedicated to him in Paris. His works are exhibited in the world's greatest museum. He also was an amazing draughtsman and engraver.
