When the young African-American music hall dancer Josephine Baker and the poster artist Paul Colin meet during rehearsals for the Revue Nègre
in Paris in 1925, both were still unknown to the general public. No one suspected that this show would propel them both to a celebrity that would quickly become international, and reveal them both as leading figures of the Roaring Twenties, that extraordinary decade (1920-1930) that continues to fascinate us with its gaiety, its audacity, its modernity and its dazzling artistic vitality.
