At 18 years old, he became the youngest photojournalist in France, covering the local news in Bordeaux.
He was noticed by the Press Agency, and chosed in 1973 to be represented by it. In Paris, he covered worldwide news: earthquakes in Algeria, events in Poland, Lebanon war, riots in UK, but also sports : Olympic Gales, Football worldcups etc. He also made numerous portraits of Fashion, cinema and contemporary artists stars.
He left Sygma in 1986 to create his own agency, and became independant again in 1989.
His personalities portraits (Fidel Castro, Pope John Paul II, François Mitterrand, Monica Bellucci, Roy Lichtenstein, Tiger Woods, Yasser Arafat, Bill Gates..etc) and his great photographic "sagas" are regularly published on the cover of big magazines covers. In the 1990's, his work was propelled in the art world by Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr, who produced the exhibition "Urban Jungle" at the Pierre Cardin Space in Paris in 2000.
Nowadays, his work his renowned worlwide, and is exhibited in a lot of galleries and international museums (Contemporary art Museum of Barcelona, Milano Triennale, Palais de Tokyo, Milano Triennale Museum, and is represented in prestigious private collections.
His record sale in London in May 2012 of his photograph "ßatman Girls", at Phillips De Pury confirmed his rank abroad. Also, the sale of his "Festin des Barbares" by the Auction House Pillon in Versailles on May the 18th 2014, made him the most expensive living french photographer at auctions.
