3 superb boxes in full skin black leather.
Each of the boxes contains one of Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks (Facsimile identical to the original) accompanied by a book of comments.

The Forster Codices consist of three manuscripts, each very different in subject matter and date. Originally owned by Francesco Melzi, they then moved on to Pompeo Leoni, reaching Venice at an undetermined time. During the 1800s they were acquired by Earl Edward George Lytton and, upon his death, were inherited by John Forster (1873), who in turn left them at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1876.

The subjects covered in the codices are quite varied, ranging from important studies on mathematics and geometry and research on hydraulic machines to annotations on physics and the study of grammar. They also contain reflections of a different nature: cosmological themes, allusions to fables and witticisms, moral statements, autobiographical information (expenses for Caterina's burial), numerous sketches of horses for the never completed equestrian monument in Francesco Sforza, town planning studies for Milan and drawings of the floor plan of the Cathedral of Milan. The designs of the masked festivals related to his period at the court of Ludovico il Moro, where Leonardo was the artist and eclectic genius able to meet the demands of the whole palace, are incredibly beautiful and very interesting.
