In 1936, a new poster for the "Bayonne festivals" (from July 11 to 16) was produced by Roger Darricarrère, a young painter from Bayonne.
This is what La Gazette de Bayonne, de Biarritz et du Pays Basque says in its edition of February 18, 1936 by Roger Darricarrère:
"His success in the Bayonne poster competition earned him first prize and the dart of the spectacled snakes. The first prize rewarded talent. Just a few months ago, he began to prepare for the entrance exam to the School of Decorative Arts. He succeeded... His native city awarded a scholarship to Roger Darricarrère in view of his success and his courageous desires. Let us hope that like so many others from our lively Bayonne school, this scholarship is only an advantageous loan. Léon Bonnat cost Bayonne nine thousand francs, which received collections worth several million... Good luck to our future starter..."
