Pierre Roy (1880-1950) est un peintre français né à Nantes le 10 août 1880 et mort à Milan le 26 septembre 1950. D'abord influencé par le néo-impressionnisme et le fauvisme, il s'oriente progressivement vers une peinture à caractère surréaliste. Proche de Guillaume Apollinaire, Max Jacob et Giorgio de Chirico, il participe en 1925 à la première exposition collective des surréalistes. Son œuvre se distingue par des compositions énigmatiques, des objets du quotidien minutieusement représentés et des associations inattendues, créant des univers poétiques à la frontière du rêve et de la réalité. Il est aujourd'hui considéré comme l'un des précurseurs du surréalisme français.

The total number of prints is usually written on the print (e.g 20/200).
