Maurice Bonnel's work is in the so-called humanist line of French photography. He began by photographing his street and the surrounding arteries. Documenting his close neighborhood, he moved further and further away from it. His walks then illustrated the themes he had chosen: cinemas, the Seine, children, posters or shops, watching for details that no one had noticed, and the humor of a situation or a taught.
