The canon of this artistic style is undoubtedly one of the most original of Thai art, the artists not being inspired by human models but by a faithful, almost literal interpretation, of the Buddhist Scriptures, which define in detail the characteristic signs (lakshana) of the Blessed One.

Sukhothaï : (1238-1438) The Sukhothaï era refers to an ancient Thaï kingdom with the city of Sukhothaï in Thailand as capital.
