From the age of 18, he created his sculptures and cast them using the lost-wax method in his workshop in Koudougou, where he worked with a team of five employees to whom he passed on his expertise. Since 2002, he has traveled throughout Europe (mainly France and Belgium) to lead introductory courses, where all the stages, from wax to bronze, including casting and furnace construction, are covered. He also participates in numerous exhibitions where he showcases this ancestral art, which he has mastered to perfection. "These cultural exchanges allow me to pass on know-how achieved with simple means and gestures that I learned from my father," explains Salif. Salfo Dermé’s experience and the level of mastery he has achieved allow him to create monumental sculptures, the largest of which can reach 3.60 m and weigh over 600 kg. Salfo Dermé has also created an association, Nerketia, to promote artistic development and exchange in Burkina Faso. He donates a portion of the profits to schools and health programs in Burkina Faso.
