Greece, Archaic period, 6th-5th century BC
Terracotta (hollow, with excavation soil residues).
The goddess is represented seated on a throne in a hieratic attitude derived directly from the Egyptian style of representation of the Gods and Pharaohs (see "Colossi of Memnon"). It shows the
relationship which existed between the very beginnings of an early Archaic Greek art style which was still inspired by a very famous and renown neighbour.
Remains of white pigment (skin) black pigment (hair) and pink pigment (lips).
Hollow statuette with original archaeological excavation soil residue inside.
