Hand signed on the bottom right corner and marked E.A. (Epreuve d'Artiste) on the bottom left corner.

The subject is the Horse of Triumph, which drives the chariot where the triumphant hero stands. Especially in Roman times, the chariot itself was seen as a symbol of fame and triumph. It was the highest honor that could be attributed in Ancient Rome. The trimphator used to use a chariot to drive up the Via Sacra in the Roman Forum, from where he then climbed on the Capitol Hill.
