In this series the artist represents historical and mythological horses - this work represents Clavilegno, a horse Don Quixote encoutered during his travels. To defeat a wizard that hindered their
journey, Don Quixote and Sancho blindfoldly rode this winged wooden horse loaded with fireworks. Dalì represents the moment when Don Quixote falls to the ground after the explosion of fireworks lit
by his adversary.
