The work presented here is dedicated to Incitatus, Caligula's horse, which according to the legend was appointed a Roman Senator. The ruler did not continue the policy of his father Germanicus, so the few years of his empire were marked by constant clashes. Among heated and repeated clashes there was the one with the Senate: the appointment of his horse Incitatus took indeed place in order to emphasize the utter contempt for the senatorial class. According to Caligula, Incitatus would have been more suitable than anyone among the senators.
