Dong Son is the name given to a culture from the proto-history of Indochina, named after the village from the North of Vietnam where its ruins were discovered. The site of Dong Son shows that bronze culture arrived in Indochina from the north, probably at the beginning of the 1st millennium BCE, the date of the most ancient ruins. The population created other types of objects of Chinese origin, as well as iron. But their bronze objects, in particular their famous ritual bronze drums, express remarkable craftsmanship. This culture is present in the Red Diver Delta in North Vietnam.

The Dong Son have also left behind important stone monuments with religious purposes, comparable to those found in Polynesia.
