Joe Colombo :
Cesare "Joe" Colombo studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera. He graduated in 1949. He then studied at the Milan Polytechnic School until 1954 to learn architecture. He initially devoted himself to painting and sculpture. He gave up painting at the end of the 1950s to start his career as a designer. He became interested in materials when he took over his father's company in 1959 and decided to explore construction and manufacturing techniques. Joe Colombo's particularity is to replace traditional furniture with functional elements. It also creates integrated micro-environments such as Visiona an housing unit of the future presented in 1969.
