Rare Napoleon III giltwood four-leaf screen upholstered on one side with a vintage striped Madeleine Castaing fabric and on the other with a green linen velvet reminiscent of the decoration of Hubert de Givenchy's private mansion ( Hotel d'Orrouer, Paris, France).

This screen was part of an old Parisian decor by Madeleine Castaing.





Madeleine Castaing (1894-1992) was an internationally renowned French antique dealer and interior designer. She was the friend and godmother of many artists, including Modigliani, Picasso,
Jean Cocteau and Soutine, who produced his portrait, now kept at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Original and whimsical, she revolutionized the world of decoration by creating the
Castaing style which is the reference today. She was the mentor of Jacques Grange.
