Astonishing statue, collected in Kassa, a village in the North of the Dogon country (Mali).

Hermaphrodite statue. The character carries a child on his back. Two raised arms (invocation to the ancestors) pass above the head and fall on the face at nose level. This statue was displayed on the altar of the extended family (ginna).

Dogon : Dogon people live in Mali, more precisely on the Bandiagara cliff. The most valued pieces are statues and ritual masks worn during the "Sigui", a ritual danse organised every 60 years.
