INFORMATIONS: Around 1880, Degas undertook a series of monotypes inspired by the Parisians brothels. These works will remain in his private collection until they will be bought by Ambroise Vollard (famous art buyer for Picasso, Cézanne, Renoir or even Georges Rouault).
He entrusts them to Maurice Potin who in turn transferred them on copper to print them.
Vollard published them in 1935 in two portfolio, printed in 350 copies.
This engraving comes from the Maurice Potin's archives.
