Signed autograph letter. August 6, 1840; 3 pages in-8th
Beautiful letter about the adventures of the virtuoso throughout Europe, separated from Marie d'Agoult for less than a year, he heals her loneliness: "I am riveted, nailed and buried in Vienna, my
dear friend, and a few pleasures that I have spent a day with you in the mountains, I must make my mourning in advance. You do not tell me how long you will stay in Klasterbrün and whether you will
come back to Vienna; For my part I will move into little before the beginning of September, when I will travel gently through Hungary and Transylvania to Constantinople ... If you have to go through
Vienna in the course of me, let me know a day or two in advance and pray Mrs. Dingelstädt of which the pleasant memory I beg you to remind me of very affectionately and kindly grant me the favor of a
third admission to your dinner, that is to say to come and dine with us two (with her lover Marie Dagoult) at Prévost, where in parenthesis we dine excellently (...)"
The separation with Marie d'Agoult became effective in October 1839, she moved to Paris with their three children: Blandine, Cosima and Daniel, he left his side in Vienna, now they show a facade of
unity. From December 1839 Franz Liszt traveled to Hungary and then to Eastern Europe as mentioned in the letter. He obtains the title of Chief of Chapel at the Weimar court.
