Daum Nancy - Vase en verre multicouches, vers 1900

Daum : The french crystal compagny Daum is a crystal glassworks founded in 1878 in Nancy (Lorraine), France by Daum brothers, famous for its "Art nouveau" et "Art Deco" vases . The brothers' Daum workshops have trained some great figures of the "Art nouveau" movement. Jacques Grüber is the first artist of the glasswork. Recruited in 1893, he creates pieces for The 1893 Chicago World's Fair. It was the first great success that leads Daum to the rank of art industry. Henri Bergé is then a master decorator, he is the second artist of the compagny. With Émile Writz by his side since de 1898. In 1904, Almaric Walter developed molten glasses, he stays at Daum until 1915. The first Grand Prize for art glasswork of the 1900's "Exposition Universelle" attributed to Daum and Gallé marks a fisrt consecration. After the "Art Nouveau" period, during the 1920's, the compagny turns towards "Art Deco".
