In 1936, a new poster for the "Bayonne festivals" (July 11 to 16), was produced by Roger Darricarrère, a young Bayonne painter.
Here is what La Gazette de Bayonne, de Biarritz et du Pays Basque says in its February 18, 1936 edition by Roger Darricarrère:
"His success in the Bayonne poster competition earned him first prize and the dart of the spectacled snakes. The first prize rewarded talent. Just a few months ago, he began to prepare for the entrance exam to the "School of Decorative ARTS. He succeeded...The hometown granted a scholarship to Roger Darricarrère in view of his success and his courageous desires. Let us hope that like so many others from our lively Bayonne school, this scholarship will not be only an advantageous loan. Léon Bonnat cost nine thousand francs to Bayonne which received collections of several million... Good luck to our future starter..."
