Javier Vilato was Picasso's nephew.

Javier Vilato : (1921-2000) is a Spanish painter, engraver and sculptor. Born in Barcelona, he settles in Paris in 1946. Picasso's nephew, he becomes the son-in-law of Elie Lascaux, Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler's brother, and becomes acquainted with Michel Leiris, establishing himself at the heart of the artistic international scene Paris was famous for at the time. His intense and prolific career in terms of sculpture, drawings and ceramic mingled Mediterranean inspirations with avant-garde forms, leading him eventually towards the inclusion of his work in the collections of the Musée national d'art moderne in Paris and the Museo Reina Sofia. Benefiting from a close familial and artistic relation with his uncle Picasso, Vilato was responsible for the donation of his works to the Musée Picasso of Barcelona in the 70s.
