Albert Gleizes : (1881-1953) was a french painter, draughtsman, engravor, philosopher and theoricien. He was one of the founders of the Cubism movement, and an influental figure on the Ecole de Paris. Starting from 1900, he was very much dedicated to the artistic parisian life. He exhibited at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, at the Salon des Tuileries, Salon d’Automne, Salon des Artistes Indépendants. From 1911, he exhibited alongside with Delaunay, Le Fauconnier, Léger and Metzinger, and his works were located in room 41, which sacred Cubism. He took part in the group's activities in Puteaux with Villon, La Fresnaye, and Metzinger. In 1913, he exhibited at the Armory Show in New York. In 1915, he stayed in the USA then in Spain and in Portugal, before coming back to France. In 1927, he created the communities of Moly-Sabata, at Sablons in Isère. He explained the principles of these religious, craftmanship and artistic communicities in "L’Homocentrisme ou Retour de l’Homme Chrétien, et La Forme et l’Histoire". From 1939, he lived in Saint-Rémy de Provence where he continued his art in a mystical community, surrounded by followers. His works are present in the most prestigious collections and museums in the world.
