William Wegman : was born in 1943 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. A postmodern, conceptual humorist, he is a painter, drawer, photographer and director, mainly known for his photographic series. He has been termed a "master of whimsy, whose [works] have a charm and absurdist intelligence sometimes worthy of Beckett," by The New Yorker. He studied Fine Art, and made his first personal exhibition in 1971. He turned naturally to photography, he confessed later that it allowed him “to sublime loneliness and isolation”. The dog became emblematic of his work, particularly his series in collaboration with is dog named “Man Ray”. He received several prizes from the most prestigious institutions, and his works have been exhibited in the biggest galleries and museums, such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, or the FRAC Limousin in France.
