Pierre Mourgue is born in France in 1890. He regularly contributed to the fashion magazine "La Gazette du Bon Ton". This influencial magazine has been noticed by the editors of Condé Nast which
distributed it throughout the US under the name "la Gazette du Bon Genre".
Based in Paris, he made frequent trips to New York. His illustrations regularly made the covers of Vogue magazine. His ink illustrations of ink and gouache brought Parisian flair to the American
edition.
His works had a strong Art Déco influence. Pierre Mourgue illustrated for designers such as Nina Ricci, Christian Dior and Marcel Rochas.
