Charlotte Perriand (1903 - 1999) is one of the major actresses of French modernism. Together with Le Corbusier, Jean Prouvé and Pierre Jeanneret, she is one of the designers of the years
50 whose works are collected at the highest prices throughout the world.
Very inspired by Japanese and Brazilian cultures, she works a lot with wood, bamboo and straw which run through her work like a common thread.
From the 1960s she contributed to the creation of the Les Arcs ski resort in France, which she designed largely with her own furniture and lighting such as the CP1 wall light. Inasmuch as
Passionate about the mountains, she also developed rustic, refined and functional furniture like the tripod stool.

Charlotte Perriand :
Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) is born in Paris where she studied at the Ecole de l'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs (1920-1925) with Henri Rapin and Maurice Dufrène. She exhibits her first furniture in nickel-plated copper and aluminum at the Salon d'Automne. Le Corbusier is struck by the modern aesthetics and functionality of her furniture. She works with him for nearly 10 years and she is in charge of manufacturing the models that came out of the architect's office. Together, they redesigned the home, its furniture and lighting. In 1929, together with Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier, they founded the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM).
