Very rare Dan dancing mask from Ivory Coast with prestigious provenance.
Dancing mask presenting a face with narrowed eyes rending a beautiful expression. Its forehead is broad and its headdress is sculpted with an embossed circular arc.
Shiny brown colour old wear patina, internal wear marks
This Dan marks comes from the famous Claude Vérité son gallery associated with his father Pierre Vérité until his passing. All african art amateurs have followed the two major sales of the Vérité collection during which an Ngil mask was sold 6 million euros. This mask was sold by the Cannes Auction Besch auction house on the 21/04/2019.
An invoice from Claude Vérité dated from the 12th of january 1981 and the illustrated catalogue of the 21/04/2019 sale will be provided with the mask.
