Léonor Fini's world is one of sensuality and role-playing, where costumes play a major role. The artist herself was known for participating in costume parties. The grand costume balls of the years 1946-1953, where her appearances "as a royal owl, a gray feline or a queen of hell" were spectacular, made her a media personality, earning her, among other things, the cover of the American magazine This Week in December 1948, photographed wearing an owl mask.
