JM Lambeaux :
(Joseph Marie Thomas) (1852-1908) is a belgian sculptor born in Antwerp. After having studied at the Fine Art Accademy in Antwerp, he founded with other young artists the group "Van Beers clique", leaded by Jan van Beers. This group was famous for their excentric behaviour (they would walk around the city dressed with historical costumes).
His first sculpture, "War", was exhibited in 1871 and was followed by a long series of humouristic group sculptures. He went then to Paris, and this is when he made what is often considered as his masterpiece: "The Kiss", 1881. He died in Brussels in 1908.
