He received several prizes and honnours in recognition to his worls: Grand Prize of Rome for engraving in 1826, 3rd class medal in History (1833), 2nd class medal (1836), he was named knight of the Legion of Honnour in 1857, and promoted officer in 1866. His younger brother, the painter Sébastien Charles Giraud was his student, so as his son, the painter Victor Giraud. Along with his brother Charles, he was the entitled artist of the Princess Mathilde, and his master in painting. Eugène Giraud was acquainted to Gros, Delacroix, Gérard, Ingres, Lucien Doucet, Claudius and Gustave Popelin, and Hébert.
