Charlotte Perriand : Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) is born in Paris where she studied at the Ecole de l'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs (1920-1925) with Henri Rapin and Maurice Dufrène. She exhibits her first furniture in nickel-plated copper and aluminum at the Salon d'Automne. Le Corbusier is struck by the modern aesthetics and functionality of her furniture. She works with him for nearly 10 years and she is in charge of manufacturing the models that came out of the architect's office. Together, they redesigned the home, its furniture and lighting. In 1929, together with Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier, they founded the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM).
