The Kwele are part of an initiatory society called Beete have rituals linked to the spirits of the forest called Ekuk and represented by masks.
The dances galvanized the forces of the ancestors and the spirits of the forest resolve crisis situations and favour hunting, the Kwele's prized activity.

Kwele : Kwele people live in Congo and Gabon. Their art is mainly masks, featuring a white figure in a heart shape, triangular nose. These masks can have a huma shape (they are called Pibibuze) or an animal shape (gorilla, antilope).
