Armando Spadini : (1883-1925) Armando Spadini is an Italian painter born in Firenze in 1883 and died in Rome in 1925. He is one of the protagonists of the "Scuola Romana" of this time. He started his career as a ceramist in his home city and attended the "Scuola Libera de Nudo" with artists like Ardengo Soffici or Adolfo de Carolis. He collaborated with the revue "Leonardo" which was very much into symbolism. He transfered to Rome in 1910 where he focused on portraits and landscapes paintings. He took part in the first "Esposizione internazionale della Secessione" and the city of Rome bought one of his works in 1916. During a while after the war he has been strongly criticized by the revue "Valori Plastici" who consider his work too conservative but in 1924 the Biennale di Venezia displayed an entire room of his works. Works by Armando Spadini can be found in museums like the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milano the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e contemporanea of Torino the Museo Civico in Mantova or the Musée Georges Pompidou in Paris as well as in the Cariplo foundation or in the Puglia's pinacoteca in Bari.
