Henri Laurent Desrousseaux (1862-1906) was a french painter, ceramist, and illustrator. He was born in Joinville-le-Pont, and entered in 1881 the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts where he was the student of Émile Bin and Albert Maignan. He painted particularly religious scenes, landscapes and genre paintings. Several of his paintings where primed at the Paris Salons, and at the Univeresal exhibitions of 1889 and 1900 in Paris. A columnist of the daily magazine "Le Gaulois" said about him« Laurent-Desrousseaux is obviously a young master.» Henri Laurent-Desrousseaux met Camille Moreau-Nélaton (1840-1897), a painter and ceramist. He decided then to dedicate himself to this latter discipline. His ceramics were very successful. As an illustrator, he collaborated with several magazines, such as Le Figaro illustré, La Mode pratique. He also realised watercolors for novels. He died in 1906, aged 44.
