This work is Giancarlo Prandelli’s rendition of the well known Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. Mona Lisa was a noblewoman and the wife of Francesco di Gioconda. She is shown as a virtuous and faithful wife in Leonardo’s version. He cleverly used the strategy of sfumato which diffused various warm and light colours in order to create a mystical aura within the painting. The clean and essential line of work, the simplicity of the hatching technique and the absence of details makes this work by Prandelli an elegant impression of the original.
