Embodying the spirit of a great monkey, this expressive figure represents a captured animal. One of his hands rests on his large belly. The irregular patina appears scabby and matted.

Fang : Central Africa people mainly livin in Cameroon, equatorial Guinea and Gabon. The Fang are especially known for their guardian figures which they attached to wooden boxes containing bones of the ancestors. Fang ancestors figures are visible in the Quai Branly museum in Paris.
