Sculptures in malachite, lapis lazuli or sunstone (goldstone)
This exceptional mid-20th century collection brings together four female statuettes sculpted with remarkable finesse in noble materials.
These works illustrate the poetic theme of "The Scattering of Flowers by Heavenly Fairies" (Tian Nü San Hua), a famous Buddhist and Taoist tale in which deities shower petals from the heavens to test the devotion of sages and bless the world with prosperity and peace.
Each sculpture rests on a rosewood base finely inlaid with silver threads, highlighting the elegance of the flowing draperies and the graceful movement of the fairies carrying their flowery baskets.
We particularly admire the natural veining of the malachite and the celestial brilliance of the lapis lazuli, which give each piece a unique spiritual aura.
This group is a refined testament to Chinese craftsmanship, combining the beauty of hard stones with the richness of Eastern mythology.
