Finely Carved N’gambele Mask - SENUFO - Cote d’Ivoire

Superb Senufo Mask, in a pure Korhogo style.
N'gambele means twins in Senufo, and the mask has 2 faces.
The item present an anthropomorphic head with the scarification of the initiates to the rites of the "Poro", with a long pair of vertical horns, and long legs.
Beautiful details and fine shape.
Mask of quality, for collectors.

Material : hard wood.
Second half of the XXth Century.

Senufo : people is settled in Burkina Faso, Mali and Ivory Cost. They live from agriculture. Their art consists in masks ans sculptures. The Calao mythical bird is very important in seufo's iconography.
