INFORMATION: Um 1880 beginnt Degas eine Reihe von Monotypien, die von Pariser Bordellen inspiriert sind. Diese Werke verbleiben in seiner persönlichen Sammlung und werden in den frühen 20er Jahren von Ambroise Vollard (dem berühmten Kaufmann von Picasso, Cezanne, Renoir oder Georges Rouault) gekauft. Er vertraut sie Maurice Potin an, der sie auf Kupfer aufbringt und die Auflage vornimmt. Vollard veröffentlicht sie schließlich um 1935 in zwei Portfolios, die etwa 350 Exemplare umfassen.
Der vorgeschlagene Stich stammt aus dem Archiv des Kupferstechers Maurice Potin.
